Abstract

My laboratory and collaborators are deeply committed to evaluating the purchase of embodiment, an emerging paradigm change in the cognitive sciences, on educational theory and practice. The talk surveys key ideas from embodiment—enactivism, ecological psychology, and ecological dynamics. I then explain how we operationalize these theoretical ideas in the form of a heuristic framework, embodied design. Finally, I present our research on several embodied-design activities across technological platforms, including tablets, digital tabletops, and virtual/augmented reality (XR).
